I’ve been working with Tyler for almost a year now and I can truly say I don’t ever want to work with anyone else. He is incredibly knowledgeable not only about fitness but how the body functions and moves. My strength and fitness have improved exponentially and I owe a lot of that to Tyler. I know he has many clients, but when I work with him he makes me feel like I’m the only one. I cannot say enough good things about him.

Warning: When training with Mountain Man Performance fitness may become your new passion. Almost a year ago to the day I challenged myself to make a change. I’d already made dietary changes and had been losing weight for about 3 years. I wanted to take control of my health through exercise. I especially wanted to find healing for lingering neurological issues following a spinal cord injury more than 30 years ago. The only way I would really utilize my new membership to the YMCA and stick with any exercise program was to hire a personal trainer. I could rely on the knowledge of the trainer without having to really think about it myself. I would just show up, do the work, and see the results. Plus, I figured working with a trainer would keep me motivated. I gave it 90 days to see results. Little did I realize that training and fitness would become my new passion. I blame Tyler, in the best ways possible. We began and continued working together 3 days a week. He listened to my desires and didn’t laugh when I told him I wanted the arms of Venus Williams. Well, maybe we both laughed a little. And I’m getting there! That kind of transformation doesn’t happen overnight. He helped me to discover that fitness is more than work—it’s fun! I’ve learned that working out, lifting heavy stuff, pushing myself further than my perceived limits brings a holistic transformation. I am healthier physically, mentally, and spiritually. Tyler encouraged this budding passion by answering my questions and giving me homework because I seriously asked to learn more. I’ve had the chance to learn about time under tension, the mind muscle connection, deloading, breaking through plateaus, muscle roles, metabolic resistance training, and more. He never forced the learning on me. He listened and targeted the learning to my needs and interests. We’ve set macros and he’s pointed me to resources that would help me learn how to eat in order to build muscle and lose fat. He’s helped me to reevaluate everything I ever understood about failure. We’ve set goals and knocked them down one by one. He’s pushed me to think about goals that weren’t even on my radar and he’s helped me to fine-tune those goals over time. The thing about Tyler is that he sees potential in me I never would have seen on my own. He has designed workouts to challenge me and, more importantly, to meet my goals not his goals for me. When I expressed interest in competitive weight lifting he didn’t shoot me down but encouraged me to learn more. When I’ve had physical setbacks he retooled my training to avoid injury and rebuild strength. He has given valuable feedback on my form so that I can avoid injury, target the proper muscles, and keep improving. Those first 90 days came and went and I continue to stick with my training even though Tyler is now in CO and I’m still in MO. In preparation for the transition to distance training he gradually had me take over the training session. I even got to train him a time or two—now that was fun! Sure working with a personal trainer can be expensive over time. But I look at it a different way: training and working with Tyler have been the best investments I’ve ever made in myself. So, invest in yourself. Work with Tyler. You won’t be disappointed.

Tyler not only helped me to reach my workout goals, but to surpass them. I learned how to truly push myself, as well as how to use proper technique while working out. As a pageant contestant, I was able to walk on stage in the swimwear competition completely confident with the appearance of my body. Much of which I owe to Tyler's commitment to my training. If you're looking for a trainer that takes you seriously, Tyler is a great choice!

Tyler was my personal trainer from April 2014 until July 2016 when he left for Colorado. The fact that I stuck with his program for over 2 years is a testament to his knowledge, work ethic and personality. When I retired at the age of 58 I finally had time to “get in shape”. Since group classes and doing a work-out on my own did not appeal to me, I went to the local YMCA and asked about a personal trainer. It was my good fortune that Tyler had an opening. We talked extensively about my health concerns, my level of fitness, my ‘weak’ spots (neck & lower back), and what my goal was for personal training - which for the record was to have the body I had when I was 18. Alas, while I did not get my 18 year old body back – I did get toned, regained significant strength in my upper body, strengthened my lower back and my neck pain disappeared. Tyler was professional and conscientious. Prior to every workout he inquired about any pain or trouble spot and he worked diligently to address those issues. He continually came up with new exercises that would stretch my shoulder and neck to ensure I left the Y in much better shape than I when I got there. His entire attention was devoted to body placement, making sure that I was doing the exercises properly and pushing me when I needed extra encouragement or when he caught me trying to “cheat” on squats (don’t be fooled that he isn’t keeping count of the reps you are doing). Tyler is safety conscious. He will not push you into anything you are not physically able to do. But he does challenge you to get into the best physical condition possible for you. He celebrates your progress and actually makes you want to do MORE. These past 2 years have made me physically stronger, less fatigued and more confident in what this 60 year old body can do. I miss him tremendously, but my loss is certainly your gain.

Tyler is a fantastic trainer! He knows his stuff and takes his work seriously. He was my personal trainer at the Y from January through July when he moved to Colorado. During that time, I was able to take off inches and am stronger than ever before in my life. Tyler crafted workouts that were very challenging and got results without endangering my body or mind in any way. He pushed me to do more and more but was very careful not to push too far too quickly. He is very encouraging, patient, and kind, and has helped me feel strong and confident and empowered. I would recommend him to anyone from young body builders to retirees looking to stay healthy to anyone wanting to lose weight and tone up. Besides that, he's a great person, too.

Temporary weight loss was easy for me. I’d yo-yo with my weight for years, dropping and gaining again and again. At 400lbs, I decided to get help.
Knowledgeable, understanding and communicative, Tyler has a passion for seeing his clients succeed. With his guidance, I’ve done just that. I now sit at 215lbs and we are working towards new goals.

Tyler is an excellent trainer: patient, knowledgeable, and willing to listen. My physicians have noted positively the strength of my back and core and complimented me about that strength. I am very happy to have found Tyler!

Tyler has given me not only confidence, but a positive body image. I feel and look the best I ever had in my entire life. He has truly given my life more passion and even encouraged me to do a powerlifting meet (something I would have never done). I have won every local powerlifting meet I have competed in. Tyler even won best coach at the last local powerlifting meet. Because of him and his guidance I competed in the United States Of America Powerlifting Raw Nationals this year and placed seventh for my weight class. I now feel strong (mentally and physically) and like I can do anything. I cannot express how much Tyler has made a positive difference in my life as a trainer.

I have been working with Tyler now for almost 2 years. I am a Chiropractor and see patients with all different types of rehab needs. It was important for me to find someone who I could work with who has knowledge of movement patterns, metabolic issues, & strength training for people of all ages. No matter what the goal is I have confidence when I send one of my patients to Tyler. On a personal level Tyler has challenged me in ways that far exceed my expectations. He puts together personal, professional programs for individuals and knows just when to challenge someone to the next levels. I recommend Tyler at Mt. Man Performance with out a doubt!
